A MOTORBIKE-RIDING mayor is revving up his bid to become a Euro MP.
Alan Neal, Whitworth's current mayor and an Independent councillor on Rossendale Borough Council, is spending £8,500 of his own money on his campaign.
The baker has now launched his campaign manifesto.
Coun Neal, who hopes to triumph in June's elections, said: "This is something I feel really strongly about. If the people of East Lancashire are fed up with the mainstream political parties and are looking to lodge a protest vote, I would urge them to to vote for me."
He is using the slogan 'Take the Challenge and Make the Change' in a bid to encourage people to vote for him.
He has taken six weeks holiday off work to canvass in East Lancashire.
Coun Neal, 50, of Tonnacliffe Old Road, Whitworth, has been involved in local government since 1987 as a town and a borough councillor, would take part in monthly meetings in Brussels.
