LEIGH'S Bengal Street toilets have been closed only weeks after being re-opened - and again their future is in doubt.
Mindless vandals, who just can't leave anything alone, have once more put paid to a vital commodity. How long for this time?
The fact that they were not the most solubrious of utilities does not mean that they were not welcome considering the shortage of loos in town. Any port in a storm!
I know I and other users ranted about the state of the conveniences, but they really weren't that bad someone had to go in and smash them up!
The council, who spent a fortune on re-roofing the building, will now again have to reconsider - and I believe this time vandal proof toilets, whatever they may be, could be on the cards. Let's hope so.
