ANOTHER Bank Holiday week and another Tuesday start but after a day of heavy showers, the rain disappeared for the night's games to take place.
The Third Division managed to produce our second drawn game of the season when Tottington B travelled to St Joseph's and became involved in a thriller with their hosts, All Saints A 107-107. Tottington A were also involved in a tight finish, just losing out against Walshaw Ladies 88-91.
Walshaw Ladies is one of two teams in this division which is still able to boast a 100 per cent record. Limefield, the other team, defeated Kings XI 158-195 this week.
Fishpool B and Redvales C were the winners of the two remaining games and both now sit midway in the latest table.
St Mary's C continue to set the pace in Division Four with their 147-91 win over Cricketers, giving them the maximum eight points from four games.
Ainsworth B, Bury East B and Peelers are all chasing hard and are now sitting with three wins from four. The Division's final winners this week was Elton Youth who opened their account with a 85-103 win over MSS.
In a re-arranged game in Division Five on Tuesday, Walmersley Ladies staged a 192-145 win over Dearden's, while in Division Seven, Wren Ladies scored a 153-122 victory from Chesham Fold in the Dicky Bird derby.
On Wednesday in Division Five, the comeback of Walmersley Ladies continued as they picked up a second win in two nights. Joint leaders, Radcliffe Boro B had to fight to keep their unbeaten start, Dearden's almost toppling them before eventually falling by the narrowest of margins, 163-162.
After four games, Tottington C are matching Boro, scoring their fourth success of the season, with Exodus being their latest victims, 123-169.
Elsewhere in the division, a first win of the season for St Mary's D who overcame fellow strugglers TNT, 107-92, and a win for M.D. Ladies over Bury Sports.
In Division Six, two previously unbeaten sides met at Elton High. Tile Base Ladies proved to be the stronger team with a 172-141 score-line from All Saints B. Elton Vale D also remain unbeaten after an innings win from their own C team. Burns' Bowlers and Manchester Maccabi were the other winners in the division.
In Division Seven, newcomers Wren Ladies almost produced a major surprise when they took the experienced and unbeaten Sundial Ladies team to a nail-biting finale 174,173. Chesham Fold also managed to go down fighting, restricting Redvales Juniors to a much lower total than they have been scoring, 130-102. Swan Ladies B and Phoenix Ladies also added a further two points to their totals.
On Thursday night we may just have a new contender in the First Division. There is still a long way to go and Fishpool A are still favourites with their four wins from four. If someone was to say that the division still has two unbeaten sides, where would your thoughts be -- Ramsbottom Ladies? Ainsworth A?
Not the case, Ramsbottom suffered their first defeat of the season this week when Redvales A picked up their first win of the season, 169-225.
Ainsworth A were also beaten for the first time and their conquerors, Unsworth CC, are proving to be the surprise package, 95-130.
Also in the first this week are Brock's XI A who travelled to Seedfield where they beat Bury Felt A 65-172, while the Elton Vale derby game ended with the A team inflicting an innings defeat on the B team.
In Division Two, Wellington are now the only side able to boast a 100 per cent record. The newly promoted side cruised to a third straight win, Bury Felt B being their latest opponents, 177-90.
Elsewhere in the division Warth A and Bury East A both had innings wins. The night's final game was a closer affair, resulting in a 138-122 win for Bury West over Swan Ladies A.
Overall, from our 69 teams, 13 sides can still boast a 100 per cent record, while 10 teams are still searching for their first league points.
