A BURY teenager has been promoted to the highest rank in the Greater Manchester Army Cadet Force.
Sarah Beaty, from the Bury Army Cadet Force, based at the Castle Armoury in the town, has been appointed as the new Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major.
The 17-year-old student has been an enthusiastic member of the local detachment for four years and in that time has progressed to a high level in the Army Proficiency scheme.
At last year's annual camp, Sarah was named Cadet of the Year in recognition of her achievements in the training programme.
Now, as the most senior Army cadet in the county, Sarah will be able to pass on the benefits of her skills and experience to younger members of the organisations and make sure that their drill and turn-out are up to standard.
Sarah, who is at college studying geography, maths and IT, wants to join the Army Air Corps.
