WHAT do a roofer, window cleaner and mechanic have in common?
The answer is that they will give a cancer charity a run for its money when they compete together in the Greater Manchester Run on Sunday, May 23.
They are Michael Edwards, Des O'Hanlan and Malcolm Kay. The trio are regulars at the New Inn in Walmersley Road, Bury, where staff and customers are digging deep to sponsor them. All the money raised will go to Cancer Research UK.
Michael is a veteran when it comes to such events. He took part in the same run last year as well as competing in the Great North Run in Newcastle. He has also competed in the popular Manchester Marathon.
He said: "Des and Malcolm will be joining me for the Greater Manchester Run and between us we hope to raise £1,000 or more."
Thousands of runners from all over the UK will descend on Deansgate, Manchester, prior to the start of the event which involves a distance of around 6.2 miles.
