THREE lorries and several parked cars were damaged when a motorist lost control of his vehicle in Radcliffe yesterday (May 13) afternoon.
The driver of a Vauxhall Astra, Colin Sedman, escaped serious injury despite being trapped in his car in the collision. He had to be cut free from the wreckage by firefighters.
The accident happened at 12.15pm in Dumers Lane. The Astra is believed to have clipped two lorries and then ploughed into a third truck and a number of parked cars, before coming to a halt.
The vehicle's airbag protection system was activated and Mr Sedman, (59) from Glenboro Avenue in Bury, became trapped between the steering wheel and the seating.
Bury firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the door of the car allowing ambulance crews to remove Mr Sedman on a spinal board. He was taken to Fairfield General Hospital for treatment to injuries, which were not life-threatening.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, which caused the closure of Dumers Lane for nearly an hour, is asked to contact Bury traffic unit on 0161 856 8073.
