AN 81-year-old woman was injured when she was knocked to the ground by a handbag thief.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the robbery which happened shortly before 5pm on Sunday (May 9) in Sefton Street, Whitefield.
The pensioner was walking home when she was approached from behind by a man on a bicycle, who ripped the handbag from her shoulder, causing her to fall to the floor. She suffered minor injuries to her hands and knees.
The offender was was white, aged in his 20s, 5ft 5ins tall, slim, with a thin face partially covered by a dark coloured hooded top .
