A POST office in Prestwich remains closed more than a week after a burglars wreaked havoc inside.
Staff who went to open Holyrood Post Office on Thursday (May 6) of last week found severe damage to the interior, and a quantity of cash taken.
Fixtures and fittings had been damaged so badly that the branch had to be closed for repairs.
Regulars who arrived at the Bury Old Road office found the building secured with metal shutters and a note announcing closure due to unforeseen circumstances.
Customers were instead told to use the Whittaker Lane post office.
Disabled user Peter Gartner (40), of St Margaret's Road, said: "It has caused a lot of inconvenience for the disabled and pensioners who find it a long way to travel somewhere else."
Post Office spokesman Graham Moore said: "We will reopen as soon as the work is complete, but there was an awful lot of damage. We hope to welcome our customers back as soon as we can."
