LOCAL libraries are hosting a number of events next week to celebrate national Adult Learners' Week.
A Silver Surfers drop-in session is held next Friday (May 21) at Castle sports and leisure library in Bury, between 10am and 4pm. It is aimed at over-50s who would like to have a go on the computer.
Staff will be on hand to support learners with word processing, e-mail, searching the Internet, using the online library services and any other IT issue. Details from Stuart, David or Elizabeth on 0161 253 6104.
Meanwhile, Whitefield and Ramsbottom libraries are offering free maths courses and skills checks between Monday (May 17) and Saturday (May 22). The courses range from short fun ones to those which lead to nationally recognised qualifications: details from Joanna McMahon-Bates 0161 253 7564.
And for fun, adults can try a modern mock GCSE exam in maths and see for themselves if exams are really getting easier. Exam papers are available at all libraries.
