BURNLEY Football Club is to put forward its plans to build a football academy at its Gawthorpe training ground.
As part of a public inquiry into Burnley's Local Plan - Burnley Council's blueprint for future development in the borough - representatives from the club will put forward their vision for the future expansion of the club.
The club has already put forward its aims and objectives to the council which include the wider development of Turf Moor, including the possible relocation of Burnley Cricket Club and the creation of an Academy of Football at its Gawthorpe site.
But these plans can only be achieved with the support of the council and local residents.
Burnley Football Club chief executive Dave Edmundson said: "There is no doubt whatsoever that this club is the focal point of the local community.
"As such we feel that it is our duty to ensure that we play a major role in any plans that are being put in place for the future development and regeneration of Burnley borough.
"The club aims to redevelop Turf Moor into a facility that is truly used 365 days a year, not just for football, but as a facility that will benefit and engage the whole community for education, health and fitness, leisure activities and entertainment.
"We must ensure that any plan that is produced fully understands and acknowledges the importance of this football club to the town and in turn helps to facilitate its future success."
Representatives from the football club will appear before the government planning inspector holding the public inquiry at Burnley Town Hall, on Wednesday to explain their aspirations for the future.
