WHITEFIELD'S Stand Golf Club was the venue for the Lancashire Ladies County Championships at the weekend.
The club was given the honour of hosting the prestigious event as part of its ongoing centenary celebrations, and spectators were treated to a feast of top class golf.
The winner of the three day competition was Welsh international Natalee Evans of the Pleasington club who defeated Kim Andrew of Clitheroe in a nail-biting finale.
Level pegging at the end of the 18th, Natalee finally got the better of the twice Curtis Cup player and British Champion at the third extra hole with a birdie.
Losing semi-finalists were Caroline Atherton (Chorley) and Catherine Roberts (Hart Common).
The Carr Gold Medal Best Morning Round Gross went to 14-year-old Florentyna Park (Royal Birkdale) with 72. Florentyna also won the Best Gross Aggregate with 145.
Best Nett Aggregate went to Catherine Roberts with 141.
In the Second Flight competition 15-year-old Kelly McPhail from Ellesmere defeated Helen Braddock the Lady Captain of Bolton Old Links.
Losing semi-finalists in the Second Flight were Lynn Trulove (Crompton and Royton) and Kim Hoyle (Rochdale).
Of the 52 initial entrants, ten were junior golfers aged under 18 with handicaps of 6 and below.
The standard throughout the weekend was superb and the course was in magnificent condition for the tournament.
