AN exhibition of artwork made from more than 120 textiles opened at a Burnley museum this weekend.
The Weaving Cultures Together exhibition opens at Towneley Hall Art Gallery and Museum today.
The work produced by members of Threadmill, Phoenix Textile Group and Textile Workshop and Nazia Sultana will incorporate cross cultural motifs, techniques and materials all inspired by collections at Towneley Hall. Items including handbags, wall hangings, jewellery, clothing and sculptures made from felt, silk, copper, cotton, tissue and lace will be on show at the exhibition which runs until July 4. Works from the exhibition, to be opened by the mayor, Lilian Clark, will be on sale, and on most weekend afternoons there will be demonstrations by the artists. The exhibition is open Monday to Thursday 10am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday between 12pm and 5pm.
