POLICE in Darwen are urging people to be extra vigilant after a quantity of prescribed drugs were stolen from a car.
The small haul, which included painkillers and sleeping tablets, was stolen from a white Citroen AX in Hodder Grove between 7pm on Tuesday and 9am on Wednesday.
It included 60 tablets of the painkiller dicodine, 14 sopacon sleeping tablets, 14 diazepam tablets and a small quantity of phallopiam, all in prescription boxes.
Sergeant Anne Scott said: "We just want people, particularly those with children, to be aware that these drugs could be on the street. They are only painkillers and sleeping tablets but people should be careful.
"If anyone finds them discarded we would ask them to bring them to the police station or destroy them and let us know." Anyone with information should contact the police on 01254 51212.
