A WOMAN driver from Atherton escaped unhurt after being involved in a crash which left the passenger of another vehicle critically ill in hospital.
The man, who is aged 26 and from Walkden, was a front seat passenger in the car which was involved in an accident with a Mercedes at a roundabout on the A6 Salford Road near to Watergate Drive, Over Hulton, early on Sunday.
The BMW overturned and the passenger was catapulted from the car.
The man, whose name has not been released, suffered serious head and internal injuries and was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital.
He was later transferred to the intensive care unit at Salford's Hope Hospital where his condition is described as poorly.
A rear seat passenger in the BMW, a 14-year-old boy who is from the Little Lever area, suffered bruising.
The driver of the BMW, a 20-year-old man from Worsley, was not hurt. A woman from Atherton who was driving the Mercedes suffered a minor hand injury.
Police sealed off a section of Salford Road for four hours after the accident.
