AN 83-year-old Burnley man was duped into letting a bogus workman into his house who then stole his wallet.
The burglar knocked on the pensioner's door in Red Lees Avenue, claiming to be a builder working at the house next door. He asked if he could fill his bucket with water and if he could use the toilet.
Once inside the house he sifted through belongings in rooms upstairs and stole a black leather wallet containing £130 cash and a bank card.
The thief is described as white, 6ft tall, of slim build, in his 30s and he spoke with an Irish accent.
Anyone with information about the burglary which happened between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Thursday should phone Burnley CID on 01282 472144 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
