CHAMPION triathlete Rachel Jones has added another gold medal to her collection after competing in the Triathlon World Championships.
The 34-year-old from Preston is now the age group world champion following the gruelling event in Madeira on Saturday.
Rachel, of Singleton Close, completed a 1,500 metre swim in Funchal Harbour, a 40 kilometre cycle ride up and down a mountain and a 10 kilometre run in 2 hours 20 minutes.
She said: "I am over the moon to have won the gold. The bike ride was very hard work, but worth it in the end."
Rachel, who has an eight-year-old daughter is also part of Britain's elite team, of three, competing in this year's World Duathlon Championships in Geel, Belgium, on May 30. She's then off to Italy to compete in a run, swim, run Biathelete World Tour event.
Rachel is world champion for her age group, 30-34, in both triathlon and duathlon. She won the duathlon title in Switzerland last year.
The super mum works at Jobcentre Plus, Preston and is now looking for sponsorship.
