CONTROVERSIAL plans for a massive marina development in Lytham moved one step closer this week, with the unveiling of the design for the site.
An international design competition for the £600m scheme was won by international architecture firm, Atkins, who plan to submit a planning application for the site in the near future.
Kensington Developments hopes work will start on the £600 million 'tourism and business development' late next year and expects it to be take 10 to 12 years to be completed.
Their proposals include a marina for 300 yachts, a hotel, shops, a cinema and 3,000 apartments, all with underground parking.
Malcolm Hawe, Chairman of Kensington Developments, said, "I want this to be a magical place for all visitors and the residents. Atkins' proposals captured my vision and the true spirit of the development."
