BLACKBURN Rovers striker Andy Cole today insisted he wants to see out the remaining year of his contract.
The former Manchester United and England star has declared his intention to stay at Rovers next season.
But the 32-year-old has admitted a decision regarding his future may ultimately be taken out of his hands if Graeme Souness decides to put him up for sale this summer.
"That's totally out of my hands," said Cole, who scored in Rovers' 1-1 draw with Birmingham on Saturday.
"It's been a difficult season for me. A lot of things have been said and prides have been hurt.
"So I'll wait and see. I enjoy it here, I enjoy playing my football, the fans have always been brilliant with me, so I'm not going to turn around and say 'I'm off'.
"Like I've said, I'm really enjoying myself and that's the important thing."
Cole and Souness have fallen out on several occasions this season and at one point the striker even took the drastic step of reporting his manager to the Professional Footballers' Association.
That has led to increased speculation regarding Cole's future at the club and Souness has already stated that he'll be looking to move players out this summer in order to generate cash for new signings.
However, when Cole was asked directly if he'd prefer to stay rather than leave, he answered: "Yes. Definitely. But we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
"The fans have been brilliant with me all season. If the fans believe you're not pulling your weight then they'll let you know and the fans obviously believe I've been pulling my weight, otherwise they would have let me know.
"I got another great reception off them on Saturday, which was absolutely superb."
Rovers were on course to finish the season on a high thanks to Cole's 11th goal of the season.
But Stern John then grabbed a controversial late equaliser for Birmingham - and that goal ended up costing Rovers in excess of £1 million as they slipped from 13th to 15th in the final league table.
"I've not seen it again so I can't say whether it was a foul on Lucas Neill or not but you've just got to get on with it," said Cole.
"We were disappointed not to get the three points in the end because I think we deserved them.
"But, overall, we didn't lose the game which was some consolation."
