THE team finally realised its dream of the treble on Sunday, with a fantastic 3-0 victory over Warrington in the Divisional Cup Final.

PNE started brightly, and launched a few attacks in the opening minutes, but couldn't find the killer ball to open the scoring.

Mel Martin finally obliged on 21 minutes lobbing the 'keeper from just outside the box to put the whites in front. Michaela Barlow hit the post on 23 minutes, after a superb cross from Louise Cafferkey.

Warrington fought back, looking for the equaliser, but PNE's defence held strong. Barlow met an Alison Taberner corner on 34 minutes, but her effort went inches wide.

Both sides pressed hard in the last 10 minutes of the first half; and on the stroke of half time, Cafferkey met the ball on the edge of the box from a corner, and drove a ferocious shot into the back of the net to make it 2-0 at the break.

No side really dominated early in the second half, due to a hard fought midfield battle, but Fiona Dransfield broke through on 64 minutes to place the ball past the Warrington 'keeper for 3-0.

Warrington were spurred into action, and launched several attacks in an attempt to claw their way back into the game. PNE kept up the pressure through to the final whistle and are well deserved treble winners.
