FISH and quips were on the menu when TV celebrity Ted Robbins went behind the counter of a Ramsbottom chippy for the day.
Breakfast DJ Ted swapped his microphone for an apron at Taylor's chippy in Bridge Street. The entertainer was serving meals last Thursday (May 13) while being filmed by a TV crew for a 30-second trailer to promote his show on BBC Radio Lancashire.
But he soon found the laugh was on him when other celebrities unexpectedly arrived for a portion of chips throughout the day.
Among them was Phoenix Nights star Archie Kelly, who plays compulsive liar Kenny Snr in the Channel 4 show, a group in full Viking dress and the cast of The Sound of Music show at Preston Guild Hall! During a rest from serving up the chips, Ted, who lives in Rossendale, said: "It has been hard work but I've had a great time."
Chip shop owner Darren Taylor helped as Ted got to grips with things in the kitchen. He said: "He was nervous at first, but he soon got the hang of it."
