ION-LOAN duo Martin Andresen and Markus Babbel will not be returning to Blackburn Rovers next season.
Rovers manager Graeme Souness has told the two players he will not be trying to sign them permanently this summer.
Andresen and Babbel were both informed of the decision after Saturday's game against Birmingham City at Ewood.
Babbel joined Rovers on a season-long loan from Liverpool last August and he made a total of 25 Premiership appearances for the club, scoring three goals.
The former Bayern Munich star will now return to Anfield but he's already been linked with a move back to Germany this summer.
Andresen, meanwhile, signed for Rovers in January and featured in a total of 11 Premiership games for the club, including the four successive wins over Fulham, Leicester, Everton and Manchester United.
He is now expected to return to Norway, where he plays for Stabaek.
Souness's decision to release the two players will free up space on the wage bill for any potential new signings this summer.
