SIX men from Bury have been charged in connection with supplying drugs after several homes were raided in a police operation last week.

More than 130 officers swooped on seven houses in the East Redvales and Moorside ward areas at dawn on Thursday, arresting eight local men.

A further four houses in Rochdale, one in Cheetham and a sixth in Bolton were also raided, resulting in a further five people being arrested for drug offences.

Following interviews with police, 12 people have now been charged.

From Bury were: Mark Worsley (32), of Brighton Street, Asfaq Ahmed (19), of Wilson Street, Nassar Khan (30), of South Cross Street, Zaky Javid (31), of Heywood Street, and Amjad Yaseen (23), of Surrey Drive, who are all charged with supplying class A drugs. Gregory Henderson (32), of Walmersley Road, has also been charged with being involved in the supply of class A drugs.

The others charged were: Nasir Iqbal (22) from Royds Street, Rochdale, Nursaab Khan (22) from Cheltenham Street, Rochdale, Saeed Haq (30) from Hareshill Road, Heywood, and Auns Butt (19) from Brideoak Street, Cheetham.

All ten were remanded in custody at a hearing before Bury magistrates on Friday and they will reappear at the same court tomorrow (Wednesday).

A 15-year-old girl from Rochdale has also been charged with drugs supply and, after appearing at Bury Youth Court on Friday, has been bailed to appear at Tameside Youth court on June 23.

A 16-year-old girl from Rochdale is also due to appear at Bury Youth Court on Thursday (May 20) on suspicion of supplying class A drugs.
