A BURNLEY teenager who battled against the odds to set up her own fashion house has been recognised with a national award.
Kiran Mehnaz, 19, of Rivaaz Collections, Colne Road, was among the prize winners celebrating success at the Phoenix Development Fund awards.
The project was set up by the Government to boost entrepreneurship among under-represented communities and disadvantaged areas.
Kiran studied childcare at Burnley College where she suffered intense migraines and panic attacks.
She set up Rivaaz Collections in June 2003.
