SEVEN nominations have been received from people wishing to serve as parish councillors.
As seven is the maximum number of parish councillors required this will mean there will not be a parish council election on June 10.
The parish councillors for the forthcoming term of four years will be Anthony Lambert, Brenda Lambert, Ken Smith, Alan Lawson, Philip Walsh and Sarah Irvine.
The annual parish meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 15, at 7.30pm followed by the monthly meeting of the parish council.
BARKING Mad are looking for very special people living in the Worsthorne with Hurstwood area who may be retired or don't work who have a real love for dogs, but feel they don't want the full-time responsibility of a dog of their own.
Barking Mad offer a genuine caring alternative to traditional types of pet care when owners are away by providing a professional, caring service by arranging for pets to stay in private homes with loving host families.
Hosts are required to provide one to one care and attention as well as a loving home environment; demonstrate a clear understanding of pet care; maintain the pets' existing home life routine; exercise and feed the pet.
These special people need to be fit enough to walk a dog. More information can be obtained from Donna on 421077.
THE parish council have agreed to participate in Burnley Civic Society's Hanging Basket Competition 2004 and are to provide two prizes of £30 and £20.
The Civic Society will advertise the competition in June, and parish councillors are hoping that as many residents as possible will join in the fun of creating a colourful display of flowers for the village this summer.
