PROFESSIONAL Danny Law lifted Read to a last-over victory over Ormskirk in the Lancashire Cricket Board Knockout Cup.
The top Liverpool competition side showed their batting strength with opener Kevin Burns batting through the innings for 107. Australian professional Vaughan Williams scored a half century before being bowled by Frank Barden.
James Armstrong (38) and Oliver Clayson (37 not out) set up a total of 255-2 as the Read bowlers toiled in the sun with little reward.
After a solid start from Craig Walton (30) and Terry Little (34), Peter Sleep and profressional Danny Law increased the pace. Sleep scored 59 and Law was 66 not out as Read secured victory with the five balls to spare.
