ENGLAND and Everton star, Rachel Brown, is urging girls' football teams from Blackburn to get involved in the Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS) Junior Six-a-Side Tournament.
The event, which is being run in association with Everton's Football in the Community group, takes place in Liverpool next month.
The grassroots tournament, which takes place on 4 June - kicking off at 12.30pm - at the Wyncote Playing Fields (Liverpool University), in Allerton, is aimed at girls under 12s teams, and it is hoped that a new crop of future stars will be discovered.
The tournament, which follows the Euro 2004 format of league and knock out rounds, will see an out right winner on the day, who will be crowned the CIS Liverpool Girls Six-a-Side Champions.
Urging teams to enter the tournament, Burnley-born keeper Rachel Brown said: "It is fantastic that CIS is working together with Everton FC to promote the development of girls' football.
"This tournament gives teams the chance to demonstrate their skills and is a great platform to show people the strength and depth of girls' football.
"I hope that teams from across the North West will enter the competition and that family, friends and fans will come along and support the teams."
Entry to the tournament is free and teams wishing to enter should contact Jacinta Massey at CIS on 0161-829-5517 or email: jacinta.massey@cis.co.uk
