BOUNDARY Committee proposals for the future of local government in Lancashire are set to be announced next week.
If supporters of a North West regional assembly win a referendum in the two-tier system of local government that exists in many parts of East Lancashire will be scrapped.
Voters outside Blackburn and Darwen, where the two-tier system has already gone, will be given chance to pick one of two options put forward by the Boundary Committee. It has been considering proposals including Lancashire County Council's plan for a county-wide unitary authority.
Blackburn with Darwen Council has also submitted a revised proposal that would see it link up with Hyndburn Council and parts of the Ribble Valley.
