A MAN who tucked a fake handgun in his waistband, in an act of bravado, has avoided a jail sentence.
Timothy Dewhurst resorted to "a few mad moments" when a friend appeared bloodied and upset following a pub incident.
Preston Crown Court heard he said he was going to "blast" someone, prompting a woman at the White Bull hotel in Ribchester to think he was in possession of a real weapon.
Dewhurst, 21, of Water Street, Ribchester had pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He was ordered to carry out 240 hours of community work and pay £643 costs plus £350 compensation.
