GOLBORNE CC seconds were skittled for 34 all out off just 17 overs after losing the toss and being put into bat against Walshaw.
Two wickets fell in the first over and Golborne never really recovered from the blow.
Wickets fell at regular intervals with only Dando providing any resistance, scoring an impressive 25. Hornby of Walshaw returned an excellent 7 for 7 off 8 overs.
Not disheartened, Golborne set about making it difficult, which they did with some tight bowling and sharp fielding. Only the loose ball was dispatched.
A couple of stumpings and a catch by wicket keeper Ashmead helped reduce the Walshaw team to an eventual 38 for 5. Another 30 runs may have seen a victory for Golborne. The pick of the Golborne bowlers were S. Allison with 1 for 10 off 6 overs and James Carr with 2 for 11 off 6 overs.
Golborne U11s made an encouraging start to their season in their opening game considering the boys had not had much practice and played very little cricket together. Some promising displays of effort from all the players.
Their second game saw a vast improvement. They decided to bat first posting a more impressive total of 229,
In Adlington's innings, Golborne bowled really well, capturing four early wickets. They kept the pressure up over the next five overs, although lack of concentration started to creep into their game.
Adlington kept their strongest batting pair till the end and managed to pip Golborne by posting a score of 242, winning by 13 runs.
