ATHERTON'S world amateur ballroom champion Kylie Jones didn't get the best partner in the world to teach the grace of waltzing for BBC1's new Saturday evening programme "Strictly Come Dancing".
The new series, hosted by Bruce Forsyth, is a revamped version of the live dance contest in which celebrities pair up with professional partners, then battle it out to convince a panel of judges and viewers that they're able to trip the light fantastic.
At 5ft 3in Kylie partnered stocky, six foot plus comedian Jason Wood (who?) round the floor to the great Lionel Ritchie hit "Three Times A Lady". It's a pity he didn't take the contest more seriously. Pulling faces on the move didn't help their scoreline.
Kylie was great and despite his awkward performance they managed to finish in sixth place with 21 points after the judges' adjudication. I didn't turn over to get the viewers' marks, but I'll look in again on Saturday to see if there's any improvement.
