THE weekend report reads A+ for Brooksbottoms, after clinical victories in both league and cup matches.
Visiting Rylands were first to be put to the sword.
After electing to bat they were quickly in the mire, courtesy of the blossoming new ball attack of Josh Pellowe and Tommy Read.
Aussie Pellowe's five wicket haul was the principal reason for Rylands collapse to 32 for 7, but don't underestimate the miserly contribution of Read.
Malone ws the only batsman to dig in but eventually he ran out of partners, as Brox's slowmen completed the demolition at 74.
Any hopes of an unlikely victory were dashed in style by Simon Armsbey.
The burly opener, looking to wrap things up in double quick time, blazed his way to 28 before leaving the way for James Read and Hawley to ease home for a nine wicket win that was every bit as one-sides as the winning margin suggests.
The following day's H.C. Smith Cup tie followed a remarkably similar path.
Again the visitors, this time Euxton, chose to bat first.
Once again Pellowe ripped the heart out of the top order with a masterly display of pace bowling.
Millward's 47 led a recovery of sorts from the parlous position of 10 for 4.
In truth it was damage limitation, as the supporting trio of Williams, Ernill and Brown maintained Brox's dominance.
The home side were chasing more than the previous day, but the target of 84 was perfectly acceptable.
With a couple of early wickets falling, a less confident Brox might have a few butterflies, but with James Read in good form there was no cause for alarm.
After a series of rasping drives, Read perished short of a well deserved half century, but the match was all but over before brother Tommy and Trevor Morton led Brox into the next round and a trip to Bolton.
IN the Premier Division, Bury won the toss for the first time this season and elected to bat when they travelled to Bolton Indians last weekend.
Unfortunately their innings never took shape and only a sound 38 from Andy Metcalfe ensured some respectability.
Their total of 128 was never enough against the Indians and despite a flurry of late wickets the Bolton side reached their target for the loss of seven wickets to jump over Bury in the Premier Division table.
The Sports Club side are holding a challenge match at Radcliffe Road on Sunday between a Bury CC XI and a side made up of Rugby Union players, known at the Ruffians.
Players selected for the Ruffians are: Captain: M. K. Brawn (Impala Club and Bury), wicketkeeper: G. Dixon (IOM Vagabonds and Bury), I. Gibbs (Amsta Veldt and Bury), M. J. Fawcett (York and Bury), J. Belston (Bury Colleges).
