SOUP kitchen sensation Dolly Philips is to continue amazing her friends when she celebrates her 101st birthday on Saturday.
Dolly is an inspiration to all who know her as she still plays an active role in the community and puts others before herself.
As a young girl, she founded the renowned Manchester Jewish Soup Kitchen, which provides meals on wheels to local Jewish people who cannot cook for themselves, and has been involved in the charity for more than 80 years.
Despite her advancing years, Dolly still manages to pop into the premises, based at the Holy Law Synagogue, in Ravensway, Prestwich, once a week.
Once there, she gives instructions to the volunteers, whom she likes to call "her girls", and many are aged in their eighties.
She is also an honorary member of the Jewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester in Bury Old Road, and she received a MBE for her service to the soup kitchen a few years ago.
Keeping busy obviously helps to keep Dolly so young at heart.
