IDENTICAL twins Rachel and Sarah Walker are the toast of an East Lancashire girls' football team after netting in all three games to triumph in a national cup competition.
The girls, members of the Under-13s football team of Ivy Bank Business Enterprise College, Burnley, helped the team to beat off competition from nearly 2,400 schools to finish third in the Coca Cola sponsored English Schools FA Cup Final, at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge.
On Wednesday the team lost 4-2 in the semi final to Church Stretton High School from Shropshire.
Yesterday the team, cheered on by 300 pupils from the school in Byron Street, Burnley, beat Bexleyheath High School from Kent after an inspired performance by the team's secret weapon, the Walker twins.
Ivy Bank were chosen to represent the North of England in the championships after winning the regional tournament. The team picked themselves up to dominate yesterday's third place play-off winning 3-1.
The Walker sisters dominated the game with Rachel netting a brace and Sarah, a cracker from the edge of the area.
Two-goal heroine Rachel, who is a Burnley fan, said the team managed to put Wednesday's disappointment behind them.
