AGE Concern in Bury is to host an event to help older people stay safe in their homes and avoid becoming victims of crime.
The Safe and Secure Day will take place at the charity's Jubilee Centre at Mosley Avenue,next Wednesday between 11am and 4pm.
The event will include demonstrations and advice from a variety of organisations including Bury Police's Home Watch, Bury Fire Service, Health Promotion Unit, Ring & Ride and Trading Standards.
Beryl Pilkington, of Age Concern, explained: "This event will be packed with practical advice. From spotting bogus callers and rogue traders to fitting smoke alarms and hand rails.
" We are showing there are a number of steps older people can take."
