LANCASHIRE will have to battle to avoid an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the students from Leeds and Bradford Universities.
The Red Rose team slumped to 138 for nine in their second innings, a lead of 187, despite an earlier hat-trick from Chris Schofield.
The leg-spinner claimed the feat towards the end of the student's innings. His first wicket was wicketkeeper Ismail Dawood, who had hit a 147-ball century to frustrate Lancashire. He then grabbed Kez Ahmed and Thomas Glover, both trapped lbw, with his next two deliveries.
Schofield has not been able to force is way into the Lancashire first team this summer with the success of Gary Keedy and the seam attack, so the wickets will be a welcome boost.
