A SADLY depleted squad travelled to Leicester for the Midland/North Regional fixtures, which were always going to be tough for the Bury-Pedalsport riders, and for the second successive week they suffered heavy defeats to a Premier League club.
With only three regular first teamers on duty, the 108-68 scoreline was only to be expected, and with two of those riders in the process of recovering from injury, there was almost no contest.
Youngster Tom Doyle topped the score sheet on this occasion with 13 points; Paul Dyson 12; Fred Rothwell 11+1; Ben Scranage 10+2; Ashley Simpson 8; Chris Parrish 7; Will Collins 4+1; and Michael Parrish 3.
The combination team didn't fare any better, with Tom Doyle again topping the scores in the 76-43 defeat. Tom Doyle 13; Ashley Simpson 8+1; Chris Parrish 8; Chris Dyson 5; Michael Parrish 5; and Will Collins 4.
Sunday presents an unusual situation, with Bury travelling to Sheffield for two first team events. The first round of the British Team championship takes place at 1pm, with Bury hoping for a strong line-up to earn progress to the next round in the eight-a-side, 18-heat match. The Northern League six-a-side, 15-heat encounter will take centre stage at 3pm.
Next Tuesday evening, Goshen will be the venue for a tough Northern League match, with Bury entertaining Tameside. Training will take place as usual before and after the league match, which starts at 7.30pm.
