A LEIGH-BASED glass company has received recognition for its work with young people in the area.
Regency Glass, located on Butts Street, won the prestigious Greater Manchester LSC award for its continuing commitment and support to the nationally recognised Modern Apprenticeship (MA) scheme.
The MA scheme employs young people, training them up in a particular industry - giving young people further education in a specific area of work.
The company, which has been trading for over 20 years, has so far put 15 learners through the MA scheme and six supervisors through another project called the ETP scheme, all of which are now undertaking Level 2 NVQ's in Glass Processing.
Wayne says: "The company is keen to stay one step ahead of the competition and sees the MA scheme as a way of doing this. It builds a genuine interest in the job and the company, and the learners feel part of the big team. There is also the benefit of a nationally recognised qualification to be achieved."
