I READ with interest Councillor Roy Walker's comments concerning the Labour nominations for the Mayoralty, and his assertion not to abide by the decision should the Tories take control on June 10.
He needs reminding that when Labour took control in 1986, they accepted the Conservative nomination of Councillor Evelyn Waite. Furthermore, in 1988 Labour gave up their right to nominate in order for Conservative Bill Johnson, who had been overlooked for so long by his own party, to become mayor.
