A MAN injured in a Cliviger car smash is to be interviewed by police over alleged driving offences.
Police said that Stephen Brookes, 43, of Red Shell Lane, Oswaldtwistle, was driving a Renault Kangoo van, which collided with a Daihatsu Fourtrack driven by Patricia Hadfield, 38, of Hebden Bridge, going in the opposite direction.
The accident happened close to the windmills in Long Causeway at 7am on Thursday.
A four-mile stretch of the road was cordoned off from the Kettledrum at Red Lees Road to Mount Lane for two hours while an accident investigation was conducted by police from Colne and Yorkshire.
Mr Brookes suffered a broken left leg, a broken left ankle, a broken right thumb and a broken right foot. He was detained at Burnley General Hospital.
Mrs Hadfield suffered from a broken right collar bone, bruising to hips and cuts to the head. She was given treatment at Burnley General Hospital before being sent home.
PS Bishop added: "A police investigation is currently being conducted.
"A prosecution against the male driver will be considered."
