THE article (LET, May 10) regarding slashing the accident rates to youngsters by producing a special calendar is a good idea. But why do we need these calendars in the first place?
Surely it is every parent's duty to protect their children from harm. I was recently horrified to see two young boys playing unsupervised on a busy street/road junction near to where I live.
The eldest boy told me he was four and that his playmate was two. Where were the mothers of these two young children?
They should not have been on the streets alone. I see young children many times in my area playing unsupervised.
These children could easily be taken off the streets by strangers - that's if they are not knocked over first by cars.
Mothers, please take care of your children a little better. It is no good crying when something happens to them. It will be your own fault.
