BUDDING pop stars flocked to Padiham Youth Centre at the weekend to sing for a place in the grand final of a local talent competition.
They were the last auditions for the Stars in Their Eyes contest, launched by Brunshaw Action Group.
Youngsters from across Burnley and Pendle took part in trials over the last few months to win a place in the finals at Burnley Mechanics Theatre in July.
The contest has been backed by Pennine Police, who secured £5,000 from the Rank Charitable Foundation to fund it.
Superintendent Steve Hartley said: "A similar contest was run by Brunshaw Action Group in Burnley last year and it proved a huge success.
"Thanks to the funding we've obtained from the Rank Foundation, the competition will be even bigger and better with young people from Pendle invited to take part, as well a those from Burnley.
"We're delighted to be supporting the contest. It keeps the youths occupied and whilst they are rehearsing and competing, they are having fun in a safe environment, which is in all our best interests."
