THE company that bought Accrington's troubled Cinema today unveiled plans to revamp it.
And management at Vue dismissed fears they had only purchased the multiplex site off Hyndburn Road to close it to prevent competition with its planned new cinema in Blackburn.
Vue, which recently took over the Warner Village chain, is building a picture house to anchor the new leisure complex next to Blackburn railway station. It bought the Accrington cinema from Premiere Cinemas Ltd, a firm specially set up by Hyndburn Council-backed Globe Enterprises after previous operators, GSX Leisure, shut it after "financial difficulties." The deal is understood to have been worth £1million.
Tim Richards, chief executive of Vue, said: "Vue Accrington will undergo a complete refresh. The improvements will dramatically enhance delivery and enjoyment."
