SIR, What a refreshing change the recent Words Festival makes from bingo halls and night-clubs in Leigh.
The first event was a slide show and talk about Leigh-born writer James Hilton who wrote the novels Goodbye Mister Chips and Lost Horizons.
The second was a play written and performed by Atherton and Leigh Writers of which I am an honorary member. The third event was a series of poems read by the author. My last visit to the festive was a market place for those who wish to find out more about writing and publishing.
What a great festival all round, culture has finally come to Leigh.
This was the first, lets hope it's here to stay.
