RAWTENSTALL Magistrates' Court is opening its doors to the public next week.
Two different cases will be played out in the courtroom, one typical of the cases heard today and one with a theme to link in with the 1940s weekend being organised by the East Lancashire Railway.
The Mayors and Mayoresses of Burnley and Rossendale will be attending the open day on Monday, May 31.
Visitors will also be able to see displays by the Advisory Committee, the Courts Service, the Crown Prosecution Service, Magistrates in the Community, the National Probation Service, the Youth Offending Team and other organisations in St Mary's Chambers.
Linda Thornbur, chairman of the Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Bench, said: "This is an opportunity to speak to magistrates and others involved in the court to go into the courthouse and watch the way cases are presented and to see our interpretation of a 1940s case.
"We hope people will find their visit both informative and fun."
The court building and St Mary's Chambers will be open from 10am to 1.30pm, with the courtroom dramas starting at 10.30am, 11.15am, noon and 12.45pm. Admission is free.
