PUPILS at a Blackburn primary school ditched their curriculum for a week to concentrate on getting green.
Wensley Fold Primary School in Manor Road spent the week looking at eco-learning to celebrate the end of Standard Attainment Tests.
Youngsters recycled household waste to create junk monsters, turned bin bags into clothing and held talks on graffiti and litter.
"Children really enjoy learning about green issues and the environment and they are important issues for their future," said head teacher Gaynor Stubbs.
"We chose seven themes and each class has covered all of them, while working on one in depth.
"We've looked at waste minimisation and recycling, litter, energy, transport, water, our school grounds and the environment and healthy living, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed it."
The school is also waiting to hear if it has been successful in a bid for the government's Green Flag status through the Eco-school initiative.
The week was launched by the Quantum Theatre for Science Group with a play about eco-issues and the start of the walking bus.
