BLACKBURN with Darwen Council is set to rubberstamp plans for a multi-million-pound regeneration project that could affect more than 1,000 homes.
The borough, along with Burnley, Hyndburn, Rossendale and Pendle, recently shared in a £103million government windfall.
The boost was the single biggest cash injection for East Lancashire's run-down neighbourhoods.
Now council officers have drawn up proposals that could see 525 homes demolished over two years, along with 135 new ones built and a further 561 improved.
The council's ruling executive group will meet on Thursday to agree the first step and Elevate - the company set up to oversee East Lancashire's housing market regeneration - has already been consulted.
Work is likely to start in the Infirmary area of Blackburn, with houses in Mosley Street the first to be pulled down; 13 homes, forming almost one terraced block, will be bulldozed if the plans get the green light.
A public meeting will be held on Friday at Ivy Street Community Centre, from 6pm to 8pm.
