A 36-YEAR-old man is facing a possible jail term after clocking up his third drink drive conviction.
Burnley Magistrates heard Thomas Lowry was more than twice the limit when breath-tested in the early hours. A previous ban ended weeks before.
Lowry, of Holbeck Street, Burnley, admitted driving with excess alcohol, no licence, no insurance and no test certificate. He was unconditionally bailed until June 16 for an all options open pre-sentence report.
Andy Robinson, prosecuting, told the court that police on Briercliffe Road, Burnley, were driving towards Duke Bar. They saw the defendant pull out of a junction, causing a motorist to break sharply. He then drove into a street and stopped. Officers spoke to Lowry and he smelled of drink.
The lower of two breath tests later revealed 88 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 milligrammes of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Duncan Nightingale, defending, said Lowry got behind the wheel after an argument with his wife.
