BURY manager Graham Barrow has sneaked a lead on his rival managers after getting an early glimpse of the PFA's list of free transfers.
Barrow visited the PFA offices in Manchester in a bid to determine potential transfer targets and came away more than pleased.
"We are in a good position now to start contacting targets and it was nice to grab a sneak preview with the official list not due out until next week," enthused Barrow.
Barrow is also trying to tie down the remaining players yet to extend their existing contracts.
Eighteen-year-old Daniel Douglas-Pringle has signed a new six-month deal but Colin Woodthorpe, Lee Unsworth, Gareth Seddon and Matt Barrass have yet to put pen to paper.
Barrow said: "We hope to have three of the four lads signed up by the end of this week.
"They are keen to sign and we are getting closer to a deal."
One man who is considering his next move carefully is Dave Challinor.
The strong central defender impressed on-loan at Gigg at the end of the season and is available on a free transfer.
However, his commanding performances have attracted interest from a string of other clubs and the long-throw specialist could yet decide against returning to Gigg Lane for the start of the new campaign.
Barrow, though, will keep trying to unearth that gem of a free transfer as his players head for their summer break.
