THE history and background of Clitheroe Rural Council's area were incorporated in a new coat of arms.
White waves represented the four district rivers and the three golden whales, derived from the ancient arms of Whalley Abbey, were included in the new design.
Meanwhile The Bishop of Blackburn, Dr W M Askwith, called for mankind to have a stronger faith and better moral standards.
