CLOTH made in Clitheroe was responsible for saving Edmund Hillary's Sherpa guide Tensing Norgay near the summit of Mount Everest it was claimed.
The story was recalled by the chairman of the firm that made the cloth at a dinner held to celebrate the election of new Clitheroe mayor Coun C. Chatburn
